Planning- Auditions For Potential performers

We went out to to do some test shots of potential performers. We all filmed eachother performing the first part of the song.

When we did this we found out who would be the most ideal person to suit the role of the artist.
We also learnt about the issues to do with lighting which might occur when we are filming our music video. When we were shooting Juliana the sun kept reflecting off the lens of the camera so we couldn't see her properly which was a major issue so we had to change where she was standing and move her to another background. When we filmed Christabell no one was tall enough to film her which is why in most of the shots she is sitting down. If she was our artist it would be difficult to get some shots we need. When filming Tamara she kept moving too much and walking off to different things this was difficult to film. We had to track her and the camera was constantly moving making the footage wonky and it didn't look great.

Planning- Test shots of potential performers

We needed an artist for our music video, but we didn't know who would suit this role. So we decided to go out and film our performance for this song. In the video clip we made on final cut pro we didn't use markers, because we wanted the audience to focus on the performance of the artist instead of the song and lip-synching.
In the end we decided as a group that Juliana best suited this role as she was only one who knew the lyrics as well.

TAMARA AKOTUAH: Research For Music Video - Potential PLocations

A potential location for our Music Video is Evol Smithfield Market It has a lot of street wall art, however this particular art is different as it creates a whole new location in a certain area. Evol uses paste-ups and stencils to transform such urban furniture as concrete blocks, tree planters and telephone exchanges into tower blocks thereby creating tiny cities with the city.  We went down to have a look, check out the shots above. I also requested permission to use this location and I'm currently waiting approval.

research -Favorite Previous Student Video

The password to watch the following video is 'student'

This video is my favorite one because of the following:

-It has a very engaging tempo
-It has a variety of camera shots, angles, distances and movement
-The performance is good
-The choice of song is appealing to the type of music I like
-The lip-synching has been very precise
- Locations and setting differ; this keeps me watching the video as it makes it more interesting
-Appropriate mise-en-scene, such as Make up, motifs and costume
-Editing, such as jump cuts are well used as they cut in time with the beat/tempo
-Lighting
-Shots are held steady
