Research- 2 Digipaks that are from the dubstep genre

Little Boots- Hands Digipak Analysis

Little Boots is an English Electro pop singer and songwriter that is similar to the artist of my music video song choice 'Katy B'. I like the fact that there is an image of her on the back of the digipak as well as at the front. The same font is used for the text throughout the CD. The color scheme that is used comes across as futuristic through the ' enchanting, out of space ' themed background that is also used on the CD itself. The cover of the digipak shows a clear image of the artist she is in the foreground, and not hidden away in the background. I like the fact that she stands out against the background, and the images come across as if she is leaping out at her target audience. The use of effects, and graphic detail of the triangle creates a dynamic composition for the digipak and is a recurring theme throughout this digipak.

Remedy- Music Video

This music video uses a lot of stylized and graphic editing.
I picked up on the use of lights and the triangular, star light this is a symbol that
is featured in the ancillary product for Little Boots. The use of effects
and futuristic theme is used in the digipak which creates a visual link
between both products.

Lilly Allen- It's Not Me It's You
Digipak Analysis

Lilly Allen is a British artist also from the electro pop genre. I think that because my artist is female, When researching into digipaks I think that it's important that I focus on female artists from the same genre's. This is so I can see the font and how the artists look in their album cover photographs. In Lilly Allen's Digipak below I like the use of graphic detail. The big L that her body movement and pose reflects her 'quirky' lyrics. The use of the graphic design could also reflect her music video's that are set in an urban environment. I think this is something to take into consideration, because my music video is set in the urban surrounding when adding graphic detail into my ancillary work, I will include a graffiti symbol that my targeted audience can relate to.

The main thing that stands out to me when I look at this digipak is the color scheme pink, white and black. I Like the contrast of the harsh black against the soft pink. This could connote ideas about her personality trait or the songs on the track list. It is a binary opposition of her good and bad/rebellious side. When I choose a color scheme I want it to reflect something from the music video, but also include a hidden message.
