TAMARA AKOTUAH: Ancillary products- Research- digipak relating to my genre

The Count & Sinden digipack contains graphics on the album cover rather than an image. I believe the reason been is that the artists are established enough and therefore have already built up a fan base. However I could not use this particular idea as my artist is new and needs to be recognised by audiences. The graphics on the album cover such as the shapes used are all manipulated from the music video of the song Mega, below I have embedded the video for a clear understanding of the links which have been made.
A lot of the obvious colours used within the music video are also reapeated on the digipack for example the blues and greens. These colours are evidient in a lot of digipaks of the genre of dubstep for example Katy B's digipak.
The album cover also appears to have imagery of female hands, which tie in with the genres dance movement "skanking" the music video below which is also a song on the 'Mega Mega Mega' album portrays this idea and shows where the influences of the album cover have been taken from.
The album CD design is minimal however extremely effective as the recurring motif of the thick bold block font has been printed on the actual CD. This motif uses the same font as the album cover, this allows audiences to recognise the album of the CD without having to look at the actual album front cover.

The Advertisement

The advertisement echoes the album covers design, which instantly informs the audience what the advertisement is about. It offers the audience a chance to feel a part of the artist and promotes the album by creating something for the fans. "Album Launch Party"

The fonts are bold and simple unlike the titles of the album, to ensure that the important information about the album release are acknowledged.

I think the dates and times are far too small and not visible to the audience, I think it would have also been better if the record label of the artists where visible.

How will this influence my work: I love the simplicity of the advertisement and think that the use of colour is very effective. I will however include an image of my artist on my advertisement as she is a new artist and needs to be promoted and recognised in order to build  up a fan base.
