What Is Synergy? 

During my AS year I learnt about the use of synergy for the film industry. I thought that it would be helpful for me to look into synergy for the music industry. The Wikipedia definition is: The interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the...: "the synergy between artist and record company". Synergy is found in the film industry combining the star studded music artists into their movie promotion. Each institution benefits as every time the film is seen audiences recognize the artists song. Both institutions feed off each others audiences therefore they rake in a huge profit.Synergy is also found with happy meal tie in's and adverts using songs by artist to create awareness for their brand/product. I looked into the IMBD website to find some general information about this new released film.

Skyfall 2012

In the above Gif image is the skyfall teaser and banner used for the twenty-third spy film of the James Bond series distributed by MGM and Sony Pictures Entertainment. They have recently used the British singer songwriter Adele to sing the theme song. This movie is predicted to be the most successful James Bond movie in the 50 years of the franchise and is set to take in over $1 billion dollars in the box office. This is beneficial for both industry's. Especially Adele it will draw attention to her new single release and attract a wider audience if a  music video is released.

This is the official Skyfall trailer. It's audience is international and it is rated PG 13 this is such a broad audience that appeals to everyone. It is an action, adventure and crime movie, and as Adele being tied in with this will widen her audience and branch her music career further. I think it was very helpful for me to look into this so that I can understand more about branding and promotion before I start my ancillary work.
