TAMARA AKOTUAH: RESEARCH - Katy Perry Wide Awake music video analysis

As stated in previous posts Katy B's Wide Awake Video has been nominated as one of the best music videos for the MTV EMA  Best Music video awards. Below I have analysed what stands out of that music video for me and also embedded the actual music video for those who are unfamiliar with it.
Her video begins with screen shots of a previous music video she released. This is a great idea as it reminds audiences of other songs and promotes more than one thing.

She uses Goodwin's theory of having artist recognition.
A lot of intertextuality is used from Disney films such as Cinderella, snow white and other prince, princess, chanted stories. This gives the music video a theme.

How will this influence my work?
I love the fact that Katy uses a theme within her music video, this will appeal to a big audience due to the fact that a lot of younger children specifically girls aged 6-15 love watching disney channel and other fairytale-like tv programmes and films.
