Research into British artists

Elle Goulding

She is a British singer-songwriter from Hereford and her music is from the Indie Pop/ Electro genre. She is currently signed to the music label Polydor records in 2009, which is owned by the major labels universal music group and Sony music entertainment. Her first debut studio album ' Lights' was released in 2010 and the album went to number one on the UK albums chart and has sold over 850,00 copies in the UK. This October she has released her second album ' Halycyon ' and the song 'anything could happen' is the albums lead single, a video has been released for this single as well.

Her music video follows Goodwin's theory of amplification,
because she has added to the layers of meaning that
' anything could happen'' i.e flying, ending up in the middle of nowhere, but the video also
contains elements of disjuncture. This is what my music video will be following.

Example

The English singer and rapper is from Fulham and his music is from the Dubstep, elector and Hiphop genre. He is currently signed to data records and found success in his second album's release ' Won't go quietly' which reached number 4 on the UK albums chart. Following Carol Vernallis' analysis of music videos I found that most of his music videos cut in time to the beat of the music, jump cuts are used and there is evidence of a base track.
