TAMARA AKOTUAH:RESEARCH- Looking at target audience

Dubstep is on of the genres categorised for our chosen music video song; it defines a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London, England. Dubstep often has a loud tempo and can sometimes include a range of different beats or a mix of two different songs. The target audience of our music video is ages 16-24 however I wanted to do some more independent research into the genre of dubsetp and analyse how people view the genre and music. Below I have 2 clips embedded from 'YouTube' of 2 people who are not in are targeted audience age range:

VIDEO 1
Age: 90
Nationlity/Ethnicity/Background: American
Religion: Christian
Views On Dubstep: "It's got a beat, but I don't think you can dance to that"
Likes/Dislikes Dubstep: LIKES
Reaction: laughter, dancing,happy, shocked, confused

VIDEO 2
Age: 48
Nationlity/Ethnicity/Background: American
Religion: Christian
Views On Dubstep: "Makes me wanna do crazy Sh**t, I wanna get out of my car"
Likes/Dislikes Dubstep: DISLIKES
Reaction: confused, covers ears, covers eyes, pulls faces, laughs

Outcome
Looking at both videos it is clear that both audiences are not in favor of Dubstep, however in saying that they both do find it really interesting to listen to. I personally think they do not enjoy this music because of their age group. This is evident in VIDEO 2 when the subject (mum) asks her daughter who is in fact 18 years old says "when I listen to this music it makes me happy". This shows a clear contrast in the two age groups; supporting our choice of target audiences age 16-24 for our music video.
