Research into the pleasentville effect

My group wanted our music video to be in black and white. We wanted to add some color, but to fade it away in some parts of our video to amplify the meaning of ' Disappear'. I found that I could use this effect which the previous students used to make there music video.

This is a collage I made of the previous student video that used the pleasentville effect. They used red lipstick and accessories. They also used red paint on the big slides and when filming out on the streets the red bus was also captured. I'm not sure if this was planned, but it worked well.

By using one distinctive bright color such as ''Red'' in the artists clothing. During editing we would be able to use this effect to pick up only on the red and keep other colours black and white. I think by including this into our music video it would make our visuals look more aesthetically pleasing for the audience, but also add to the layers of meaning to the lyrics of our chosen song.
